Our Team Stands Defiant Alongside Our Customers

This entry was posted in Defiant announcements on Nov 21, 2017 by Mark Maunder 14 Replies

Wordfence is the number one security product for WordPress today. We have evolved from a small team of two founders in 2012 into a 28-person company of highly skilled and credentialed analysts, developers, engineers and support staff.

Since we launched Wordfence in 2012, our team has steadily expanded outside the WordPress space. We launched Gravityscan earlier this year, giving our customers the ability to scan any website for vulnerabilities and malware. Gravityscan has been a resounding success and joins our growing stable of products and services.

The team that started Wordfence has grown into an experienced and pioneering security organization. Today, we are the team behind:

  • Wordfence, the leading firewall and malware scanner for WordPress with over 50 million downloads.
  • Gravityscan, a groundbreaking service that scans any website for malware and vulnerabilities, no matter what platform you use.
  • Our popular site-cleaning service, which helps our customers rapidly recover from a hack.
  • Our site security audit service, which helps our customers ensure their sites are locked down and secure.
  • We also regularly publish research into the newest threats on the Wordfence blog.

Today we are announcing that we are rebranding our corporate name to Defiant Inc. Our new website is www.defiant.com and, going forward, this will represent the company that develops Wordfence, Gravityscan and our many other innovative projects and products – both current and future.

We stand Defiant with our customers to stop known and emerging cyber threats. Our team is the most capable web security team in the world today. Our products and services continually break new ground, and the rest of the industry follows our lead. We put our customers first and pride ourselves in delivering the best possible customer service.

My team and I are proud to have you as a Defiant customer, whether you use Wordfence, Gravityscan or one of our other industry-leading products.

You can learn more about our company at www.defiant.com.

I do believe the product name will stick around (Wordfence), Defiant is the Corporate name.

You're absolutely right, Wordfence the product isn't going anywhere.

I like it too. Looks like Brak from Space Ghost.

Lots of success to you all! It will be difficult to change the mindset from just WordFence/GravityScan to Defiant, but I will try :)

It is a happy day for you guys and I know it came with a ton or two of hard work. I am one of the guys that you haven't left behind because I haven't made a nickel to share yet, but I will. I am one of your "free user guys" that you protect and never harass to upgrade. You still protect us as if I was paying you a million. I have talked to you guys in the past and I love you guys and love the "can't over protect attitude you have. I am proud to have your services on my sites. Congrates Guys!

For so many years of existence as small to mid enterprise freelance web dev, I have been using wordfence and entrust the site to security to it. It works very well. I have referred the wordfence many times to my clients and they love it. Now that company has evolved, I am sure many and many more will switch to it. Not only for great and good pricing compare to others the success of work with the wordfence plugin is very great and recommendable.

Congratulations on the rebranding! Love the new look; it matches your dedication to keeping the internet safe. I've always enjoyed your reporting on web safety and industry threats. Proud to be a customer!

(P.S. I would be down for a Defiant t-shirt, too. Maybe at a WordCamp meetup, someday?)

Some years back I was cleaning up a hacked website, and on my way to installing a wordpress security plugin from the WordPress repo, I saw "WordFence."

"What the heck," I said, I'll try it out. (I read the description and I liked what I read.)

On my very first run of WF, it found not one, but two backdoors. Speedy zoom zoom.

And I hadn't even had to pull out shell and command line access.

I was sold. And I've been in love ever since.

Thanks for making the web a safer place. :)

I'm so happy to see a new corporate name. The old name really didn't fit the business model. I know how hard it is to make a big change like this. It's so much more than replacing all the memo pads, letterhead, and signage. I see this company going places. Maybe....someday.... Defiant will protect the world thought cyberspace.

cyberspace? Is that still a word or am I dating myself?

The name is cool and represent what you guys stand for and known for.

Hat tip to who ever designed that logo.
